Bishop's
Castle Walking Festival
A three-day midweek festival in June each year
Come and experience the rich wildlife and breathtaking scenery
in the heart of the Shropshire Hills and delve into the history
and myths of this inspiring border country.
The festival offers a selection of guided walks in the company
of trained local guides. You
will stay with local bed and breakfast accommodation providers
which we can help to book for you. The area can offer a challenge
to walkers, so please bring strong footwear, warm clothing and
waterproofs
with you. This hilly area is famous for sheep and cattle farming,
preventing us from allowing dogs on the walks. You will need packed
lunches which may be available from your accommodation providers
or you can buy them from the local bakeries and grocers in Bishop's Castle.
A wide variety of activities in both Bishop's Castle and the immediate
area will be held at the time of the walking festival. These include
talks by local naturalists, a folk evening, town tours, brewery
tours, and special openings of the town's museums.
Full details and a booking form are available in our colour brochure
available from local tourist information outlets or by contacting
our information and accommodation booking service:
