South Shropshire has many interesting
villages and towns where you can appreciate the history, browse
the shops, or just relax in a pub or café. Here is just
a selection of the better-known places.
Ludlow
Beautifully preserved Medieval town on the river Teme, about
20 miles away. Contains many fine timber-framed and georgian
buildings and a spectacular castle. The 2-week Ludlow festival
is in June & July. Spectacular views over the town and castle

Clun
Bishop's Castle's nearest neighbour. A picturesque setting
in the Clun valley dominated by its castle. This thriving
town is host to the Green Man festival in May and has a number

Church Stretton
Picturesque town between the Long Mynd and Caer Caradoc, often
known as 'Little Switzerland'. The areas is popular with walkers

Montgomery
The smallest county town in Wales. Charming small town clustered
around the Square and town hall. Overlooked by an impressive
castle which offers wide-ranging views across the Severn valley
and the English border.
