An evocation of the Bishop's Castle Railway, past and present.

Puffing Through Fairyland

The Bishop's Castle Railway was never a viable enterprise, and was dubbed the 'Fairyland Railway' by the Daily Mail in 1931, just three years before its closure. This recording, originally made in 1999, and released on CD in 2005, features a 52-minute documentary followed by the Bishop's Castle Railway Suite in five movements.

The CD is produced by the Fairyland Group with financial assistance from The Arts Council of England, A4E Express, Shropshire County Council Arts Services, South Shropshire District Council, Rural Challenge Community Chest and Rural Arts in Action.

Copies of the CD can be obtained from various local shops and businesses, or by mail order. Cheques for £10.50 incl postage, payable to The Fairyland Group, School House, Lydbury North, Shropshire, SY7 8AU. Telephone 01588 680302 for international orders or further information.
